The 8D-series smelter droid was a model of smelter droid manufactured by Roche Hive Mechanical Apparatus Design and Construction Activity for Those Who Need the Hive's Machines. The series possessed a humanoid shape with white plating and yellow sensors. Like all smelter droids, the 8D-series was designed with extreme durability for working within the harsh confines of ore-extraction facilities.
